Project Assessment
Design Consulation, Concept Design & Material Selection
The Design Consultation is an in-depth, in-person or digital meeting that results in a design brief for your project. The New Earth Living Designer will converse with you, review your vision board and explore your ideas and concepts, listening for the home you want.
- To prepare for this, create a vision board/folder (using Pinterest or google images) that captures the essence of the home you envision yourself in.
- Explore any ideas for how you want your new home to look and feel, rooms that are important to you, and any little details that you want to incorporate into the design.
- Bring any information, photos and sketches you have of your block of land/existing residence.
Using the design brief, the designer will develop a concept with you, which may lead into further concept development until we’ve reached your desired vision. Expect hand sketches, CAD drawings and 3D modelling to describe your home.
Here, we ask you to consider your overall theme, style and ideal building materials, including external and internal finishes, joinery features and any bespoke details.
Preliminary Cost Estimation, Design development & Planning Approval
With the concept package defined, we will offer a preliminary cost estimate to ensure the design fits the budget. In the design development stage, the designer works with the owners and the builder to refine what will be built. Updating the concept and the cost estimate with selected materials & real time pricing.
If a planning approval is required by the Shire, we will submit the required documents at this stage.
Final Cost schedule, Working Drawings & Building Permit
Once the design has been developed, the designer will work with the building surveyor, engineer, energy assessor and any other experts required to create a set of working drawings for your home. This is a tailored set of drawings and details that fully describes your future home.
With the working drawings we will create a final cost schedule, ready for your building contract and submit all the documents required for a building permit. The New Earth Team is now ready to start building your home!
